Ingredients: for 1 martini
ice
1 1/2 oz vodka or gin. I like Grey Goose
1/2 oz dry vermouth. I like Dolin in the green bottle
1 oz pickle juice of choice. I used the juice from Trader Joe’s Spicy dill pickles.
optional: pepperocini or pickled pepper garnish
optional: chopped jalapeno for extra spice
Directions: Shaken
Add ice, vodka/gin, vermouth, pickle juice, and optional chopped jalapenos into the shaker. I use this one, which measures and shakes.
Shake aggressively with ice for 10 seconds. Strain and serve in a chilled martini glass.
Directions: Stirred
Add ice, vodka/gin, vermouth, pickle juice, and optional chopped jalapenos into a mixing glass.
Stir with a bar spoon for 20 seconds until chilled. Strain and serve in a chilled martini glass.
FAQ:
Q: What is the difference between shaken and stirred martini?
Shaken is usually more diluted, more aerated, and has ice chips. Stirred preserves the vodka/gin added, is smoother, and is more spirit-forward. I am team shaken.
